In the fifth round of the Premier League last weekend, Chelsea beat West Ham United 3-0 away, in which Caicedo played well. Mikel talked about his views on the Ecuadorian midfielder in his blog show "The Obi One".
"We talked about Caicedo and we thought he didn't have a good start to his Chelsea career. In the first few games of his Chelsea career, he made a lot of mistakes," Mikel said.
"Everyone was thinking: 'Why did we pay so much money for this guy?' Now we can see his wonderful performance at Brighton. He is definitely a great player.
"On Saturday, he was everywhere, not just finishing the defense, but also trying to link up the game, completing the pass, everything. Now you can feel that this is the Caicedo we all know. Now watching him, you can see that he is confident.
"He is a bit like saying: 'Okay, now I play for Chelsea, this is my team'. From his performance, from the way he performs on the court, he has no ego.
"He is really good. I have seen his performance on the court. He is everywhere, a bit like Kante. This is all thanks to Caicedo and also to the coach who gives him such confidence and makes sure he believes in himself. I think he may continue to be the captain of the team."
